Tuesday- Election day- Tried sleeping in but still woke up at 5:30am. Met Matt Pritchett for coffee at 7:00am. Worked from 8:30am- 5:00pm. Came home early for lunch as Sarah was meeting Emily White for lunch in town. After lunch I went and voted at Town Hall. Mulched the maple leaves on the center grass with the ride on lawnmower in the afternoon. Came home and watched election returns on TV. Sarah took Lucy and Bowden to play rehearsals at 5:30. I gave the boys baths and picked up Lucy and Bowden at 7:30pm. After putting the kids to bed I turned the TV back on and learned that the election had been called for President Obama. I went to bed at 9:30pm.

Monday- Day off- Slept in until 6:00 am. In the morning, Sarah and the kids went down to a Dan Zane's concert at the McCallum theater in the desert as a field trip. Marin and Emmy Campbell tagged along as well. I stayed home by myself- made some phone calls, watched TV, ate lunch, and took a big long nap- until Sarah and the kids came home at 2:30pm. In the afternoon we all went over to the school where Bowden, Lucy and Jack were auditioning for parts in the Secret Garden. Bowden was awarded the role of Ben Weatherstaff, Lucy is to be a firefly and Jack along with many other children will be the Secret Garden itself. Bowden disappointed that his role does not have more lines. He is supremely confident speaking in front of people, which strikes me as a rare trait. I'm impressed that he wants more lines, but I encouraged him to do the best with the parts he was given, and not be jealous of other kids with more lines. Fell asleep in front of the TV, but woke up shortly before midnight and went upstairs to bed.
Dinner- Enchiladas, Spanish Rice, corn chips with green sauce and a glass of milk.
Devotions- Phil. 2:3-11

In the late afternoon the Crosspoint Men's retreat showed up and I helped them get set up. After putting the kids to bed, Sarah and I had another date watching an episode of The Walking Dead. Creepy. OCTOBER 31, 2012- HALLOWEEN
Wednesday- Woke up at 5:00am, and worked on completing a paper for Principles of Church Growth. Out the door for work at 8:30am. Worked from 8:30am until 3:30pm with a half hour break for lunch. Left work early to take the whole family into town for the annual Idyllwild Halloween fastivities. Bowden went as a hobo. Lucy was Cleopatra. Jack went as a transformer (bumblebee). Miles went as Spiderman. Lots of candy and merriment. After a while we went down to Chapel in the Pines in Mountain Center who were putting on a harvest festival. Had a good time hanging out with the Whitneys and eating more candy. At 7:30pm we left Mountain Center and drove back up the mountain to the Shirley's house for homemade doughnuts and hot cocoa. When we got home Sarah was complaining of a sharp pain in her stomach so I volunteered to put the little guys to bed for her. Fell asleep myself while putting them to sleep, woke up in their room later and made my way into my own bed.
Dinner- A wide variety of things at Chapel in the Pine's event with doughnuts and milk at the Shirley's house.
